In 2017, Atlas Copco announced that the mining and rock excavation technologywould be separated from the group and became an independent company-Epiroc.

Epirocretains all the organizational structure, personnel, trademark, product lines and sales network of Atlas Copco. At the same time, hydraulic breakers of the original construction technology department have also been merged into the company. Epiroc is not only the name of the company, but also a new brand that replaces Atlas Copco in the mining and rock excavation industry. 

The original Atlas Copco was established in 1873, and its stable position in the mining machinery market was inherited by Epiroc which is a new company with a history of nearly 150 years and a solid foundation.
